About This Web Site

This web site is designed to provide a communications medium for members of the Bank of Canada Pensioners' Association. It provides members with the opportunity to ask questions, provide answers or feedback on issues and to share information on a range of topics. It is intended to be interactive and spontaneous and written in the language of choice of the authors ~ the members. The primary purpose of the web site is to promote the accomplishment of the key objectives of the Pensioners' Association as set out in the Constitution. This site is a work-in-progress ~ additional links and functionality to come.

Web Site Policies

Privacy Policy:

The BCPA is committed to providing members and other visitors with a web site that respects their privacy. All personal information held on this site has been provided by individual members for the information of other members and to satisfy the BCPA objective of helping members to stay in touch with one another. The BCPA will not provide this personal information to any non-member for any purpose, without the express consent of the member involved. Members are asked to follow the same policy with respect to their use of the personal information they may access on this site.

This site uses "cookies", as part of the security arrangements to detect BCPA members and to allow them access to information that has been designated as "members'-only". A "cookie" is a file that may be placed on your hard drive by a web site, normally without your knowledge, to allow it to monitor your use of the site. Since this site uses cookies as a way of enabling members to have full site access, members must use a cookies-enabled browser to log on and access members'-only information. Visitors who do not log on will not receive cookies as a result of visiting this site.

Cookies are also used to detect any unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. A log is kept to record the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of computers that visit this site, the date and time of visits, the pages viewed, and the browsers and operating systems used by visitors. We do not attempt to link this information to the identities of individual users, unless an attempt to damage the site has been detected."

Access Policy:

This site is open to the world wide web, except for certain links that are open to members only. Only members are allowed to submit comments for posting on the site and all member comments must have names attached, to minimize the potential for questionable material on the site. Member access requires a combination of your pensioner number (from your BCPA Membership Card) and a password of your choosing when you register for online access.

Content Policy:

Responsibility for the content rests with the author posting the information. The Webmaster will undertake periodic housecleaning to keep the site current and lively, but will not exercise a censorship role unless material posted is possibly illegal or particularly offensive.

Bilingualism Policy:

This site is designed so that the user can toggle between French and English screens by clicking underneath the logo, with the page formatting being in both languages and the text being in both languages, if available, or in the language of the author, if bilingual text is unavailable. The objective is to have all major documents available in both official languages.
